Flow Kayaks – North Island

Flying Dutchman is proud to be the North Island distributor and demo partner for Flow Kayaks, with our main base in Auckland and a satellite presence in Christchurch to support the South Island. Our demo fleet includes kayaks, surf skis, and paddles, available for trials and events across the Island.

Flow Kayaks offer an exceptional balance of stability, speed, and manoeuvrability. Engineered specifically for multisport athletes who demand performance across varied conditions. With carefully tuned stability-to-speed and manoeuvrability-to-length ratios, these boats deliver a responsive and confident ride.

Each model is CAD designed and handcrafted for precision, resulting in sleek aesthetics and near-perfect symmetry. Well…almost perfect. The Sharp 6 stands out as a legendary exception: a classic design still favoured by Andrew Martin and loved by paddlers to this day.

MULTISPORT KAYAKS

The Aspire is an excellent choice for beginners and intermediate paddlers looking for a stable, comfortable kayak with a bit more room. Designed for ease of use, it’s known for its maneuverability, stability, and even a touch of speed compared to others at this level.

The Aspire is a favorite among paddlers starting their journey, and it’s trusted by some of the best guides on the Waimak River!

The first collaboration between Richard Ussher & Andrew Martin.  The Rockstar is designed to give intermediate to advanced paddlers more comfort and control in the widest variety of conditions possible.

With an incredible amount of stability it means more focus in any condition can go into what counts – moving forward as fast as possible. In testing, the Rockstar has been matching many of the “Elite” boats for speed on the flat-water and when it turns rough it leaves them for dead.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Length: 6 metres

  • Widest point: 48cm
  • Paddler Weight Recommendation: 50-110kg

A year before Andrew died we caught up with him and he described the Rush as his master piece and the best boat he’d ever made. We can’t blame him, and neither can the top 10 in our favourite races.

Richard paddled the prototype to fastest time in the 2014 Coast to Coast Race. This boat is very stable considering its speed, the harder you paddle the faster it goes. Very little stern squat, climbs over wakes with ease. This is the next generation of elite multi-sport kayak, you will see at the front of the field at all the major events in the coming future!
